This & That

I know there has been plenty of discussion concerning The Miami Heat and what they’ll do with the number two pick in the Draft, but I think in the end they’ll keep the pick. If the Chicago Bulls select Derrick Rose number one, which they are expected to do, Beasley will not only be taken number two by the Heat, he will remain a member of the team. I really don’t see Miami dealing the young stud unless it’s an offer “They can’t refuse”. The Grizzlies undoubtedly have some parts the Heat would love to have, but I don’t feel it will be enough for Miami. In addition, the Heat would want the Grizzlies to take O.J. Mayo at five and I just have a gut feeling he will be swooped up by Minnesota at number three.

The U.S. Open Golf Tournament is this week and I have been on fire with my picks. In fact, I have chosen the winner of the last three PGA events. This one however will be the most difficult. The obvious choice is Tiger, but he’s been laid up for well over a month. There’s also Phil, who like Tiger, dominates Torrey Pines. How about one of the young guns? Scott, Donald, Baddeley, Kuchar, Kim, Rose, Snedeker? I think when it’s all said and done “Lefty” erases some bad memories of Opens past and wins, on what is essentially, his home course.

Here are some quick hitters for you…..

The Chicago Bears did the right thing by releasing Cedric Benson

Ron Polk has lost it. I understand he was a great Baseball Coach and until now a fine representative of Mississippi State, but he has gone overboard.

The NBA Playoffs have been extremely good, but so far the finals have not lived up to it’s advance billing. As I write this entry, L.A. is down 0-2 to the Celtics as the scene shifts to the city of angels. I’ll bet you the Kobe’s win at least 2 of the 3 in Tinsel town.

The Redbirds drew 14,000 plus for their game with Round Rock. Here’s to the Birds and AAA Baseball in Memphis. The games continue to be reasonably priced for everyone to enjoy, and the game time experience is second to none.

Later, Greg
